Commercial Manager - responsible for :
1. Bid Management
2. Commercial Analysis, ensuring the best proposition is put forward.
3. Writing, creating and submitting a factual, accurate, compliant response to tender
4. Attending customer meetings in conjunction with other staff to understand customer requirements, present the tender, commercial or legal proposition compiled in response to requirements (negotiation at all levels)
5. Conduct legal and commercial negotiations
6. The Commercial Bid Manager will be responsible for the matrixed management of individuals as a direct result of managing the bid process. Virtual teams would normally include individuals from such functions as finance, bcs, network, technical, production but could involve greater participation across the business in order to pull together a compliant and complete tender response often within tight deadlines.
Commercial Business:
1. Work with existing Commercial team to maximise growth of current contract and future opportunities.
Other:
1. Implement continuous improvement and best practice and contribute to business initiatives in accordance with the Operational, Technical and Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
2. Provide guidance and work instruction to the business where required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
1. Current experience in a Commercial Management role within a complex organisation - ideally engineering services or similar
2. Commercial Bid management skills - bid/tender/contract preparation, development, negotiation, risk awareness.
3. Excellent listening, communication and negotiation skills.
4. Effective time manager- can plan & priorities self and others' workload.
5. Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
6. High levels of drive for results, motivational tactics, and use of performance management.
7. Excellent understanding of contract legal / statutory framework.
8. Commercial acumen - astute, with an eye for an opportunity - successful track record in development of new business opportunities/ solutions.
9. Leadership/Management experience - ability to empower/manage, with strong process, system, and best practice skills- a role model.
10. Strategic intellect - can contribute to improving performance both at strategic and operational levels.
11. IT literate - all office programs - word, spreadsheets, presentation, data processing, project management.
12. Experience in leading bid teams across large scale projects - engineering, marine, utilities or similar.
