(Ref. No. EOR - 01) Specification of Unix Administrator post.

We are seeking an experienced system administrator to administer a large Unix network, and provide server and desktop support to our users. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, highly motivated and should have the ability to concurrently manage a number of diverse projects.

Responsibilities:
• Specification, purchasing and installation of all Unix equipment and software.
• Implementation, management and support of an extensive Unix network.
• Network security management and patch management.
• Installation, configuration and support for an extensive range of commercial and open-source software for a diverse user base.
• License administration and frontline support of all installed software products.
• Development of disaster recovery systems for critical servers.
• Monitoring of system stability and performance.
• Ensuring 24x7 operation.
• Ensuring data integrity, backup management, archiving.
• End user support, desktop support, application support.
• Development of new projects and proposals.
• Comprehensive documentation of our systems and processes.
• Automation of tasks as much as possible through the development of scripts and administration tools.

Requirements:
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years experience with Unix preferably Solaris and Linux.
• Extensive knowledge of webservers, firewalls/security, NFS, DNS, NIS, etc.
• Extensive knowledge of mail systems, SMTP, Sendmail, Postfix, Anti-spam, Anti-virus.
• Good working knowledge of SAN technologies, mirroring and parallel file systems.
• Strong programming/scripting ability (sh, Perl, ksh, bash, C).
• Outstanding customer service abilities.

Desirable:
• Linux Beowulf-type Cluster design and administration skills.
• Indepth knowledge of TCP/IP and Infiniband technologies.
• Windows administration.
