Research Scientist Computational Fluid Mechanics/Polymer Processing (Sco), PhD, The Netherlands

Function details: He/she will support the activities of the different DSM Business Units namely the Performance Materials Cluster (Engineering Plastics, Dyneema, Coating and Structural Resins), and the various Emerging Business Areas (biomedical materials and Specialty Packaging). This person will be responsible to execute fundamental studies for fluid dynamic problems by using numerical methods. He/She will solve the practical problems with a scientific approach. Here for, he/she will develop mathematical models and codes, set up the programming for simulation and perform simulations. He/she will do visco-elastic fluid stability analyses by using the finite element method, spectral analysis etc. To prove the problem solving concept, he/she will help set up lab equipment and trials.

Education and qualifications:
• PhD in engineering or physics in the field of fluid mechanics and/or rheology.
• Preferably experience in method development in the research of computational fluid mechanics.
• Relevant scientific publications are a plus.

• Be able to work independently taking complete responsibility for his work and decisions.
• Responsible person with respect for the individual.

• Initiative taking team worker and sharing knowledge.
• Be able to handle given freedom to work out great solutions.

Languages:
• Fluent in English (oral and in writing).
• Willingness to learn the local language (Dutch).
 
Mobility/travel: +/- 10% global travelling.
