Reporting to/hierarchy: Global Leader for Regulatory, Nutrition and Scientific Affairs and
Advanced Analytics                  
Function details: This person will be responsible for the operational leadership of the Advanced Analytics Research team in Europe (AAREU), being a subdivision of the Global Food Research organization.
Expectations for this role include:
•         Accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of the AAREU team.
•         Assure that all activities meet the expectations of our clients and customers in terms of quality, time, cost and customer satisfaction.
•         Contribute to the building of a company-wide analytical network.
•         Recommend activities to embed, centralize or outsource.
•         Identify outside labs where to perform activities that are being outsourced.
•         Work with Global Advanced Analytics Research Director to optimize global Advanced Analytics effectiveness and efficiency.
•         Identify, build and maintain analytical capabilities and assets according to technology strategy and Business needs.
•         Lead analytical technology developments according to technology strategy and business needs.
•         Become familiar with emergency plans to deal with contamination and how to coordinate with Regulatory for toxicological review of safety threats.
•         Develop AAREU employees. - Including team-building, coherent and uniform behavior, consequent and pro-active attitude towards clients.
•         Manage all Budgetary / Capital / HR / EH&S Requirements.
•         Stays for a minimum of 3 years in this job
 
Education and qualifications:
•         PhD in Analytical Chemistry with strong knowledge of Carbohydrate analysis.
•         Minimum 5 years experience in managing an analytical research lab, preferably within a food company.
•         Must have experience in method development, problem solving for both quality control issues, manufacturing problems but also for research projects.
•         Must have a proven track record of strong technical management and people leadership. Ability to lead and motivate high performing teams of scientific employees to reach technical objectives that bring value to the business.
•         Must have excellent change management skills.
•         Able to handle/manage complex situations/organizations.
•         Must show ability to communicate and collaborate with a large number of internal businesses and functions and internationally within the organization.
•         Ability to develop and recognize new technical capabilities needed within the company.
•         Familiar with statistics to ensure meaningful data interpretation.
•         Knowledge of legal issues and understanding of business implications of projects.
•         PC literate (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, …).
