The Pipeline Project Engineer provides design engineering and other professional services primarily focused on capital projects and operating activities of the client. Capital projects include new pipelines and modifications to existing pipelines for gas transmission and distribution. Operations support requirements include assessing fitness-for-purpose of pipelines, repair and rehabilitation options, and selection of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide pipeline design for new pipeline assets, including alterations to those assets.
• Ensure that new or altered client pipeline assets are designed and constructed to provide reliable service throughout their life, and that the assets remain in service for as long as possible.
• Provide designs or direction to design staff, and / or acquire external experts for that purpose, and oversee / accept their work.
• Prepare engineering assessments and economic, feasibility and risk studies using practical experience and engineering principles.
• Analyze project costs, schedule and construction resources in order to make recommendations to internal clients as to the preferred alternatives.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Applied Science or equivalent (mechanical or civil or chemical engineering)
Experience:
10 - 15 years experience in the pipelining field (or related)
Eligible for Chartered or P.Eng.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated track record of problem-solving, successful design of pipeline facilities.
• Full knowledge of relevant NZ and international standards including AS2885.1
• theoretical and practical expertise in pipeline design, pipe stress analysis, corrosion and pipe integrity, and welding procedures.
• Pipeline project management and construction experience
A demonstrated ability to problem solve issues and apply engineering concepts to practical situations will ensure your success in this role.
